Donald Trump dijo el miércoles que el abogado de la Casa Blanca, Don McGahn, pronto dejará su cargo, en momentos en que el fiscal especial Robert Mueller -que lidera la investigación sobre la interferencia rusa en las elecciones- se acerca al círculo interno del presidente de Estados Unidos. “El abogado de la Casa Blanca, Don McGahn, dejará su cargo en el otoño (boreal), poco después de la confirmación (esperemos) del juez Brett Kavanaugh en la Corte Suprema de Estados Unidos”, anunció Trump a través de Twitter. "¡He trabajado con Don por mucho tiempo y realmente aprecio sus servicios!”, añadió, sin ofrecer ninguna razón por la cual McGahn dejará su puesto.

A principios de este mes, el periódico The New York Times reportó que McGahn había “cooperado ampliamente” con el equipo de Mueller, participando en al menos tres entrevistas con investigadores que sumaron unas 30 horas. Trump dijo que había autorizado a su equipo a cooperar con los investigadores, pero la especulación aumentó sobre lo que McGahn podría haber dicho específicamente sobre si el líder republicano intentó obstruir la justicia.
